Bird on a Wire

I finally was able to capture one of the local Red Kites on film - even if it meant sprinting around the block to follow it!

And my fluke picture of the bird as it crossed over a telegraph wire - hence the title!

These gorgeous birds are making a comeback and I love it when the pair that fly over here reappear as I know they haven't met an unfortunate end - as they eat carrion they are often the victim of cars

An afternoon on the farm

Last weekend was Open Farm Sunday at my friend Jo's farm and we wandered along to give moral support (and supply red wine to wind down afterwards!)

Here are the pics of cute animals - big and small

Me holding a very young chick

And a feisty gosling. This critter was only 4 days old. I saw him again 5 days later and he looked like he was almost double the size!

Two of the bunnies that were in the petting corner

Tax the pony, Catherine will be getting riding lessons again this summer :)

A not very in focus picture of a Large Red Damselfly - but at least it stayed still long enough to have his photo taken!

One of four baby hedgehogs rescued from a neighbours terrier that are being hand-reared. They weighed about 45g, were 2 weeks old and needed to be about 450-475g to be released back into the wild. At this point their eyes were still closed. They were being fed every 3-4 hours by dropper.

A couple of smooth newts from the duck pond

Do you think that he thinks the grass is greener on the other side? Either Alfie or Blanco the llama (I'm not sure which)

Blooms, Blumen

Last of my May stitching updates, I will be revising my year end goals at the beginning of July

Update to Earth Dragon

On to page 3 of this one :) And isn't this one giving eveyone the evil eye?

Almost Midsummer and here's Middy

Tomorrow is the longest day and I might just have to get this one out to stitch on her just because ;)

Penguins - Progressing well

One is complete, and marching onwards and upwards to finish the other two

Christmas Mystery slowing being revealed

Lots of work being done with Gold braid, which is tiresome to say the least, all the backstitch is in gold and I'm not sure how much it adds to the design.

Rawr!

First of my May Stitching Round Up - a little late but I've been a little busy! One of the projects I worked on during the month long May Stitchathon on Cross Stitch Crazy.

The King of the Jungle is complete, moved on to the Jaguar - hope to have this one finished before year end as originally planned :)
